I glanced around the corner of the aisle, making sure no one occupied the narrow space before turning the corner. I tried to appear casual as I maneuvered my way around a display of condoms. Some advertised to drive her wild while others claimed to be ribbed for his pleasure. There were flavored condoms, and some that glowed in the dark. None of them helped me now. I was looking for a pregnancy test.

With a quick look behind me, I found the small shelf of pregnancy tests mixed in with ovulation predictor tests. There were seven different kinds of pregnancy tests for women and only one test for male omegas. I picked up the box, turning it over. It claimed accurate results as soon as ten days after an omega's heat. I checked the expiration date. Looking around, I casually threw it into the cart and promptly hid it with the other groceries I had picked up.

I left the aisle as if being chased by mad dogs. I couldn't leave it fast enough. It had been two weeks since my heat. I had no idea if I was pregnant or not. So far, I was symptom free. My heat had lasted for three days, never once letting up until Brewster and I were so exhausted that I never wanted to have sex again. Two days later, I was back at work, still sore and finding it difficult to walk without grimacing. The other guys in the shop didn't say anything, but I saw the smirks they tried to hide. It was embarrassing knowing they all knew what I had been doing during my heat.

Checking off another item on my list, I found my favorite low-carb spaghetti sauce. It was ridiculous the amount of sugar companies put in their rich tomato sauces that weren't needed. Since going low-carb, I had become a meticulous label reader. If there was added sugar, I refused to buy it. Natural sugars were okay up to a point. Carbs per serving had to be low, preferably only one or two. I hated that I had to be so careful, but I had seen results. I hadn't had another seizure since that day in the diner when I first met Brewster.

Bo walked beside me, ever vigilant. He was always as unobtrusive as possible, but we always got looks from other customers. So far, we hadn't run into anyone who wasn't on petting the cute dog. It was always hard trying to balance being polite with educating people on the proper etiquette when seeing a working dog out in public. Most people seemed to get it, but there were always some who got mad when I tried to explain that Bo was working and I preferred if no one touched him while he was working. It distracted him, and I needed him to be focused on his job. And it was a job. Bo worked hard as my ears, even if it didn't immediately look like it to someone on the outside looking in.
